NO
MORE WHINING!
First
Excuse: I don't have time!
People always have time for what they enjoy even with the pressures
of work and family. If you don't have time, how come you've seen every
episode of Friends? Create a Time Journal to figure out where your time
goes every day. You'll be surprised by how much time you actually waste
doing nothing. Turn off the TV and keep your exercise time as a high
priority. This should be your fun time! Eliminate time wasters: Work
out at home instead of the gym. Keep all your gear together so you can
change and get into it in less than 10 minutes. Get family involved,
so it becomes part of time you spend with your loved ones.
2nd
Excuse: It's too hard!
It's not if you start of nice and easy. Proper training requires
building yourself up from the bottom and as you get fitter you'll feel
better, more full of energy and other areas of your life will be affected.
Exercise should be fun and when you start to notice the differences
in your body shape and how you feel, nothing will be able to drag you
away from a quality workout.
3rd
Excuse: I can't stay motivated, it's boring!
Find a training partner and enjoy the social atmosphere that
training brings. Realise the health benefits of what you're doing and
give yourself rewards for the hard work you do. Stop thinking of it
as work and think of it as play time. If it's not fun, try something
different. Cross-train. Have a goal. Pick a future race and train for
it.
4th
Excuse: I don't have the energy!
It's a vicious cycle! The less energy you have, the less you
want to exercise. But the less you exercise the less energy you have!
Study after study actually shows that engaging in physical activity
makes you feel more energized, decreases stress and tension and promotes
better sleep.
5th
Excuse: I will embarass myself!
The person who finishes a race last is still ahead of those
who never entered!
6th
Excuse: I could never do something crazy like a Triathlon!
According to USA Triathlon, more than 200,000 people ages 6
to 84 completed their first triathlon in 2001. Of those, 98% had nine-to-five
jobs.
Bill Albrecht finished the 2001 Hawaii Ironman (2.4mile swim, 112mile
bike, 26.2mile run) in 16hrs, 25min. He was 74 years old.
A famous American footballer weighed more than 300lbs when he finished
his first triathlon. Since then, he's finished 14, including 4 Ironman
events.
Rudy, age 14, has no legs. He has finished 21 triathlons and counting.
What's your excuse?
7th
Excuse: It costs too much!
Our programs are very cost effective and cost about the equivalent
of 1 or 2 pints a week. How much do you spend on alcohol right now,
or other unnecessary items? Cut some of those out for a short while
and experience the benefits of working out.
8th
Excuse: I'm afraid to start. How do I begin? I have no guidance!
That's why we're here. We'll guide you all the way to a healthy lifestyle!
